The Hometown Collective Story

The story is a common one.

Local businesses need support now and our hometown of Eugene is ready to show up for them.

The problem is…how do you do that during a pandemic?

Social distancing, freezes, shutdowns, limited relief funding, and the uncertainty of what the next day holds are huge challenges to cash flow for small businesses. Many are on the brink of closing their doors.

To shop safely, communities are turning to online shopping. The reality is, not every business is ready for that. That’s where we come in.

We built the Hometown Collective to solve three things:

  • Support independent businesses in our hometown.
  • Give our community a convenient and safe way to do that.
  • Keep our businesses open and thriving.

As a local small business owner ourselves, we were trying to figure out what we could do to encourage folks to shop local this year, I realized there was no local “online marketplace” where folks could go and see all kinds of different vendors and purchase their products. So, as web developers and local brand agency, we thought we would just create one. He hope this will be a resource for folks who want to shop local, but want the ease of shopping from home and buying from multiple vendors with one transaction.

Who is The Hometown Collective for?

    Our Community

We all know the best thing we can do right now to help our community is to shop local, but that’s easier said than done a lot of the time. Some people like the ease of buying from multiple shops in one transaction, like on Amazon, or maybe they just don’t know what local retailers exist in our community. What we decided to do is create an online collective full of local retailers so that our community can go to one place and easily browse and purchase from their favorite local businesses.

Local, small businesses WITHOUT an online presence.

As a local shop you thrive on the walk in traffic and word of mouth of individuals purposefully looking to spend money within their community. With the disruptive shift 2020 has brought to in person shopping, now is your opportunity to get in front of online shoppers with out the hassle and upfront costs of setting up your own online store.

Local, small businesses WITH a current online presence.

This year, more than ever is it important to get in front of as many people as you can. Let us be another avenue to reach your customers. With no upfront costs to you it is a great way to reach that customer who is specifically looking to spend their dollars within our community.
